Associated with purity and beauty, the lotus flower is mentioned in many religions around the world. 

The Nalini inverted lotus earrings (stud) is inspired by a wilted lotus. The lotus has been referred to in different religions as a symbol of purity, spiritual awakening and faithfulness. The flower is considered pure as it is able to emerge from murky waters yet be clean and pure. Therefore in common with Buddhism and  Egyptian mythology the lotus is seen as a sign of rebirth, but additionally it is associated with purity. The breaking of the surface and bloom beyond is also suggestive of overcoming desires, and leading to spiritual enlightenment. Even when it wilts it still retains its beauty.
